Hilary Duff will join the cast of Gossip Girl for a multi-episode story arc this fall.

The singer-actress will play Olivia Burke, a famous movie star who enrolls at the New York University in search of a normal college experience. Olivia will be rooming with Vanessa, played by Jessica Szohr.

Duff’s first appearance will be on this season’s fourth episode to be aired on October 5.
