Iggy Pop is Paco Rabanne’s new endorser
Want to smell like Iggy Pop? Now you can!
The 64-year-old punk rock icon is the new face of Paco Rabanne’s Black XS L’Excès, which will debut in France in January next year. There is currently no word on the fragrance’s global release, but it is likely to be available in the United Kingdom and the United States at some point in 2012. Famed music video director Jonas Akerlund will be shooting the TV commercials, which will come in versions ranging from 10 seconds to 45 seconds.
Iggy has a history with the fashion industry so we’re not really surprised with this campaign. The Stooges frontman has done projects with Versace, John Varvatos, and most recently with Barneys back in 2010.
In 2009 internet based insurance company Swiftcover used Iggy to front a £25 million TV ad campaign using the strapline “Get a Life”. However the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banned the commercial after it was discovered Swiftcover did not insure musicians.
