‘Inception’ Streaks to Third Weekend Reign
If there is one thing that is not questionable as whether it is a dream or reality, that would be the continuing success of Inception as it continues its reign for the third consecutive weekend.
The studio estimates indicate that the film took in 27.5 million dollars on its latest weekend. It will join Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and Shrek Forever After to have three weekend top spots for 2010. It is, however, the only film among the four that was not released in 3D format.
Coming in at second place is Dinner for Schmucks with 23.3 million. Salt, starring Angelina Jolie garnered 19.3 million dollars. Despicable Me is fourth. New films Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore and Charlie St. Cloud are in fifth and sixth. Rounding up the top ten (in order) are: Toy Story 3, Grown Ups, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
The domestic sales for Inception, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, are already at 193 million dollars. It is expected to cross the 200 million dollar mark by Tuesday, August 3.
