India’s child-trampling holy man arrested
Police in Katihar eastern India have arrested a holy man for child torture who used to trample upon infants to supposedly cure them of their illnesses.
Jamun Yadav, 50, told authorities his divine Hindu powers allowed him to transfer energy from the soles of his feet.
The self-styled demigod would keep one foot on the child’s thighs and with the other pressed hard on the throat, risking the child’s death from suffocation (pictures here).
Police spokesman Santosh Singh said: “This is scandalous and we have arrested him. The parents didn’t know just what his treatment involved when they agreed to it.”
