International Friendly: Mexico vs. Italy [UPDATED]

Italy vs Mexico Live Stream

Italy vs. Mexico Live Stream: Defending FIFA World Cup champions Italy lock horns with Mexico this evening in a tuneup before heading to South Africa for football’s grandest event.

Tonight’s friendly is significant for both sides as Marcello Lippi and Javier Aguirre experiment with their formation. However, it is safe to say that this game is far more important for the Mexicans, who have seen a lot of turbulence in the last couple of years. Having safely made their way to Johannesburg, El Tri’s goal will now be to advance beyond the Round of 16, where they have been knocked out at the last four World Cup finals.

The Italians are heavily favored to win, and with Mexico having been defeated recently by both England and the Netherlands, you would expect them to lose to the Azzurri as well.

Aguirre’s side offers a good test for Italy because El Tri’s style of play is similar to that of Paraguay, the team that the defending champions will face on June 14. But expect a slow type of game as Italy will likely focus more on defending rather than attacking, as illustrated by their last three friendly encounters.

The match kicks-off at 19:15 CET (1:15 p.m. ET) at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium.

UPDATE: A first-half goal by Carlos Vela and another by Alberto Medina in the final 10 minutes led Mexico to a 2-1 win over Italy Thursday night.
