The iPhone 3G software unlocking tool is now available. The software is called yellowsn0w and they have created a demo video some few weeks ago. Get ready to unlock your phones at your own risks.

The software is still a beta application—version 0.9.1, so make sure to read the comments before trying it. You must upgrade to the latest baseband 02.28 in order to use it.

If you are really up to it, CrunchGear has created a guide on “how to unlock your 3G iPhone“.

  • This will not unlock your 3G iPhone because it's the old unlocking tool.
