‘Is Gary Coleman Dead?’ – Internet is Abuzz [UPDATED]

The Internet has recently been abuzz with people curious if former child star Gary Coleman is already dead.

The rumors started to spread on the net like wildfire after the 42-year-old Coleman has been rushed to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center last Wednesday. Apparently, the former “Diff’rent Strokes” star hurt his head after taking a fall, and is in critical condition.

The actor’s wife, Shannon Price, told Coleman’s lawyer Randy Kester that the family doesn’t want further details of the incident to be made public.

Coleman achieved fame for his role as Arnold Jackson on “Diff’rent Strokes,” which ran from 1978 to 1986. Health has been a constant problem for Coleman, as he suffers from an autoimmune disease, which has required him to undergo two kidney transplants in his younger years.

Aside from medical problems, Coleman has also had financial troubles and several run-ins with law enforcers. He filed for bankruptcy in 1999, just six years after getting more than $1.2 million in a court battle with his parents and former manager over his trust fund. He was charged with assault in 1998 after an altercation with a woman who had sought his autograph.

He has been living in Utah since 2005 with his wife whom he met on the set of the film “Church Ball.”

UPDATE: Coleman died at 12:05 p.m. (MST) Friday in Utah following an intracranial hemorrhage suffered at his home earlier this week, a statement from his management firm said. He was 42.

“Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated,” according to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Janet Frank.
