“Jackass 3D” Grabs Box-Office Win
“Jackass 3D” crushed the competition at the box office over the weekend, proving that Johnny Knoxville, Steve O, and the rest of the gang have yet to run out of stunts.
The latest incarnation of the “Jackass” franchise took $50 million in its first week, setting a record gross for an October debut. The weekend earning of “Jackass 3D” was better than the previous record of $48.1 million set by “Scary Movie 3” in 2003. “Jackass 3D” also topped the debuts of the first two films of the franchise. “Jackass: The Movie” earned $22.8 million when it debuted in 2002, while “Jackass Number Two” bowed with $29 million in 2006.
Coming in a far second at the weekend box office was the Bruce Willis-Morgan Freeman action comedy “Red,” which took $22.5 million. “The Social Network” remained strong in its third week, although it dropped from first to third with $11 million. The film about the beginning of Facebook now has a total of $63.1 million in three weeks.
