James Bond Aston Martin Sold for $4.6 Million
An Ohio-based collector can now go around town with a James Bond aura. Harry Yeaggy bought a 1964 DB5 Aston Martin for $4.6 million in an auction carried out by RM Auctions and Sotheby’s.
The DB5 was used by Sean Connery in his turn as James Bond in “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball.” The gray Aston Martin features revolving number plates and an ejector seat. It is also equipped with machine guns for good measure; after all, it’s a James Bond car.
The final price was below the pre-sale low estimate of $5.5 million, said RM Auctions, which labeled the DB5 as “the most famous car in the world.” The Aston Martin was one of several cars sold in the London auction. Also sold at below the minimum estimated price were a 2010 Pagani Zonda R, while a yellow 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV first owned by singer Rod Stewart fetched around $1.1 million, higher than its estimated price.
