James Cameron Will Re-Issue Titanic in 3D
James Cameron, the man who directed the two highest grossing films of all time, has confirmed in re-issuing his first blockbuster flick in 3D format.
Titanic will come back to theaters in 3D by the year 2012 – the 100th year anniversary of the tragic event where it’s story was based. It lost the title this year after Cameron’s Avatar broke the 2 billion dollar mark.
Titanic is also tied with the most number of Academy Awards won at 11 with the films Ben-Hur and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (which incidentally is the third highest grossing film of all time).
Movies are now being considered for 3D after the wide success of Avatar. The next installments of Toy Story and Shrek will be in that format. The last two Harry Potter movies had several minutes in 3D. Alice in Wonderland overtook the limelight from Avatar because of 3D effects. Jaws is also being considered to be re-released in 3D.
