Jeremy Renner Scores Another Big Role
After landing the role of Hawkeye in the anticipated 2012 film The Avengers, the actor who earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor this year for the film The Hurt Locker, has been cast in the next installment of Mission: Impossible.
Jeremy Renner, 39, will play the second-in-command to the character played by Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible IV. The announcement came Thursday, August 26.
Paramount‘s production chief Adam Goodman said that Renner “has a Daniel Craig quality”.
The actor beat Tom Hardy (Inception), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Kevin Zingers (Gardens of the Night), Christopher Egan (Letters to Juliet) and Anthony Mackie, a co-star in The Hurt Locker, for the role.
Cruise, who will be co-producing the film, said that they always try to bring new talent in every installment of the franchise, including the director, as each of the four films were under the helm of different filmmakers.
MI4 is expected to hit theaters December 16, 2011. It will be directed by Brad Bird.
