John Costelloe was found dead in his New York home
John Costelloe, the actor who plays the gay lover of a closeted mobster on the HBO TV series “The Sopranos” has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in New York.
New York police confirmed that the body of the actor was found dead on December 18 in his home in Brooklyn. E online said that it was an apparent suicide.
John Costelloe, a former New York City firefighter, was cast in “The Sopranos” in 2006 as a short-order chef Jim Witowski, known as Johnny Cakes. His character was involved with Joseph Gannascoli, who played Vito Spatafore, a mob henchman seeking to keep his gay life secret.
