John Forsythe Passes Away

Goodbye Charlie. John Forsythe, the man who voiced Charlie in the “Charlie’s Angels” series, has died due to complications of pneumonia. His publicist Harlan Boll said the 92-year-old actor died on Thursday at his home in Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara County, California.

Forsythe began his acting career in theater before jumping to television with the CBS sitcom “Bachelor Father” in 1957. He became the voice of millionaire private investigator Charlie Townsend in the “Charlie’s Angels” crime drama from 1976 to 1981. He reprised his role in “Charlie’s Angels” when the hit series was remade into two movies in 2000 and 2003.

After “Charlie’s Angels folded, Forsythe cemented his reputation as one of the most respected actors in television with his portrayal of an oil tycoon in the long-running series “Dynasty.” When the show bowed out in 1989, Forsythe was the only one to appear in all of the 220 episodes of the show that spanned nine seasons.
