Katy Perry Sues Australian Magazine Over Infidelity Claims
Katy Perry is in fighting mood.
The “I Kissed a Girl” singer has filed a case against the publisher of Australia’s NW Magazine for accusing her of cheating on husband Russell Brand. The 26-year-old pop star filed a case at the Victoria Supreme Court on April 27, alleging that NW’s March 11 story about her supposed infidelity to British comedian Brand hurt her reputation. “By reason of the publication of the article, the plaintiff (Perry) has been gravely injured in her reputation and feelings (and) has suffered distress, embarrassment and humiliation,” the complaint read, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.
The offending article, whose headline read “World exclusive, Katy’s other man,” claimed that Perry had an “intimate relationship” with music producer Benny Blanco, who has worked with the singer in her albums “One of the Boys” and “Teenage Dream.”
Perry said she was forced to bring the issue to court after NW refused to verify the story and apologize when it turned out that the article “was clearly inaccurate.”
