Katy Perry Too Hot for “Sesame Street”
A “Sesame Street” segment featuring Katy Perry and Elmo singing a revised “Hot N Cold” won’t be making it to the T.V. show’s 41st anniversary episode after parents found the pop singer’s outfit inappropriate for kids to see.
The show’s producers decided to pull out the segment after parents reacted negatively to a leaked video of the segment, where Perry wears a cleavage-revealing tight green dress while playing dress up. The video, which was uploaded to YouTube earlier this week, was flooded with angry comments from parents, who claimed that the clip was too suggestive for the young viewers of “Sesame Street.”
Bowing to pressure from parents, Sesame Workshop, which produces the show, announced on Thursday that it would not include the music video in the special episode that is scheduled to be aired later this year. “In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube,” a spokesperson for the show said in a statement.
