Kiefer Sutherland Lost $869,000
American actor Kiefer Sutherland lost 869,000 dollars from a cattle investment that turned out to be a scam. The information came from the District Attorney Office of the San Joaquin County, California.
The lead star of the famous television series 24 invested the money with suspect Michael Wayne Carr. The suspect said that he would be buying cattle from Mexico and then sell them in the United States for profit.
The money was invested but no cattle was seen.
Other victims include a man from Colorado and a New Mexico couple who invested 177,000 dollars.
Carr will be arraigned on February 8 for 12 charges of felony, including grand theft, forgery, embezzlement, obtaining money by false pretenses and falsifying corporate books. If convicted he will be jailed for 18 years.
Sutherland, who already has a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has a 40 million dollar contract for his role as Jack Bauer in 24, which is already on its eighth season.
