American Idol: Kris Allen wows Kara with ‘Falling Slowly’ (Video)

Accompanied by the string section, Kris Allen sang Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova’s “Falling Slowly” from the 2007 film “Once.”

“I actually think that Kris probably lived up to the spirit of the competition the most,” mentor Quentin Tarantino said. “He actually went to a movie that obviously meant something to him and picked a perfect song.”

Yeah, it was a good performance and for sure his female fans love his rendition, but Kris had some pitchy moments.

“It never quite caught on for me,” Randy complained. But according to Kara, it was “difficult to pick an obscure song like that.” For her, it was one of his best.

That was the great song choice of the night, again...unfamiliar song to me, but... he nailed it!

That was a fantastic performance!! So many people dont know this song but it won best song in the academy awards last year lol...anyways i loved it :)

I actually totally agree with Randy, go listen to the original and then listen to this, see what you think. I quite prefer the original, Kris was pitchy at the beginning. Brilliant song though and excellent song choice.
