La Liga: Real Madrid vs. Tenerife

Xabi Alonso suffered severe injury to his Achilles last week and was forced to sit out the wins over Xerez and Villarreal. But tonight, the Real Madrid midfielder is set for a midfield battle against his brother Mikel for the first time in their careers when Tenerife visit the Bernabeu.

Pepe also returns for battle after serving out his ten-game suspension. The 26-year-old Portuguese defender was sent off last season against Getafe in the infamous incident where he kicked Javier Casquero twice.

After four successive triumphs from four La Liga games, as well as a convincing win in the Champions League, Los Blancos are now three points clear of their closest rivals Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao.

Game time is 6:00 p.m. CET (12:00 p.m. ET).

UPDATE: French striker Karim Benzema and Brazilian superstar Kaka were the heroes on Saturday as Real Madrid beat Tenerife 3-0 at the Bernabeu.

Benzema scored twice inside 11 minutes before Kaka added a third to delight Madrid fans and maintain Los Galacticos’ perfect start to the season.
