Lady Gaga is New Twitter Queen
Lady Gaga has reinforced her reputation as the most popular celebrity online, overtaking Britney Spears over the weekend as the most-followed user on Twitter.
Gaga has amassed more than 5.7 million followers while Spears is now only second with some 5.6 million followers of her own. Gaga immediately took to the Internet after learning of her new status to address her millions of fans she fondly calls as her little monsters. “Hello world, this is Lady Gaga, queen of Twitter. I wanted to thank all my beautiful little monsters for following me. Thank you for beginning my reign as Twitter queen,” she said in a video that she filmed backstage while having a costume change at the Tacoma leg of her Monster Ball tour.
“I vow never to partake in celebrity online shenanigans. And I vow to always tweet and tweet again,” said Gaga, who now holds the distinction of being the most popular person in the two leading social networks today. Early last month, Gaga replaced U.S. President Barack Obama as the most popular living person on Facebook with more than 10 million fans.
