Lakers beat the Nuggets in Game 6 to advance to NBA finals


The Los Angeles Lakers are headed back to the NBA finals for the second-straight season after closing out the Denver Nuggets 119-92 Friday in Game 6 of the Western Conference championship.

Kobe Bryant scored 35 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, Paul Gasol and Lamar Odom had 20 points each, and the Lakers made all 24 of their free throws.

Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 25 points while J.R. Smith added 24.

Los Angeles awaits the winner of the Eastern Conference finals, where Orlando holds a 3-2 advantage over Cleveland. The Magic will try to eliminate the Cavs Saturday when Game 6 is played in Orlando.

The Lakers are in the NBA finals for the 30th time in franchise history.
