Lakers defeated Celtics on their first encounter
The Los Angeles Lakers has defeated the reigning NBA Champions Boston Celtics in their first meeting this season at the Staples Center. The two teams’ last encounter was in the 2008 NBA Finals.
Lakers snapped the Celtics’ franchise-best 19-game winning streak, and a 10-game road winning streak. Los Angeles won with the score 92-83, dominating the Celtics in the fourth quarter with 21 points against Celtics’ 16, including a 12 to 3 run.
“It was a good measuring stick for us to show how much we’ve progressed since the Finals,” Bryant said. “I think we have gotten better. We added Trevor [Ariza] and Andrew [Bynum], who are healthy, we have a better defensive system and I think we’re just a better ballclub.”
After the game Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant hugged. They had beaten the Celtics! But, It’s just another game, they all claimed.
