Lawrence Taylor Indicted on Rape, Other Charges

Former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor will need his best defense in the coming months to avoid jail time after he was indicted on several charges, including third-degree rape.

A Rockland County grand jury found sufficient evidence to charge Taylor following his arrest on May 6 at a hotel in Ramapo, New York. Taylor was arrested for allegedly paying a 16-year-old girl to have sex with him. Aside from rape, Taylor is also facing charges on patronizing a prostitute, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse and criminal sexual act in the third degree.

Taylor, who has denied all charges, could spend up to four years in jail if he can’t convince the jury of his innocence. Also facing charges is the pimp who allegedly beat up the teenager before bringing her to Taylor.

Taylor is a 10-time Pro Bowler and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. He also won the NFL MVP in 1986. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
