Lindsay Lohan Defense Lawyer Resigns

Lindsay Lohan needs a new defense attorney after her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, decided to resign from the actress’ case. Holley’s resignation came after she expressed her disappointment with the decision made by Judge Marsha Revel, who imposed a three-month jail sentence on Lohan.

In a statement released on Thursday, Holley described the penalty received by Lohan as “far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances.” Holley also defended Lohan, saying that her client “substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions.”

Holley, who tried in vain to defend Lohan during the actress’ hearing on Tuesday, did not reveal her reasons for resigning from the case.

Lohan will begin serving her 90-day sentence on July 20. The 24-year-old “Mean Girls” star is also required to enter a rehab for three months, as well as to report to a probation officer for drug and alcohol testing.

Holley said Lohan is ready to comply with the sentence, although she added that the actress might serve less than three months in jail due to overcrowding and budget cuts. Holley, who was part of the O.J. Simpson defense team, had been successful in keeping Lohan out of jail despite numerous reports of violating her probation for a 2007 drug and drunk driving case.
