Lindsay Lohan Posts Bail After Jail Sentence in Theft Case
Lindsay Lohan has been found guilty of violating her probation and was sentenced to 120 days in prison for her involvement in a jewelry theft case.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner imposed the penalty on Friday after she found Lohan guilty of intentionally taking a $2,500 designer necklace from the Kamofie & Co. shop in Venice. Sautner said the 24-year-old actress showed “intent” when she took the necklace without making the effort to return the jewelry until the police came into the picture. “I see a level of brazenness with, `Let me see what I can get away with here,'” Sautner said.
Lohan spent just a short time in detention as her lawyer, Shawn Holley, filed a petition for bail immediately after the sentencing. Records at the sheriff department showed that Lohan was freed at 9:21 p.m. after posting a $75,000 bail on the misdemeanor offense, which was downgraded from the original felony grand theft charge.
Aside from the 120-day sentence, Sautner also imposed a 500-hour community service punishment, which includes time serving at the county morgue and a women’s shelter.
