Lisa Edelstein Leaving “House”

Dr. Lisa Cuddy will soon be out of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, the fictional medical center that is at the center of the television series “House.”

Actress Lisa Edelstein, who plays main character Dr. Gregory House’s on-and-off partner, Dr. Cuddy, in the television series, confirmed in a statement published by Deadline.com that she would leave the show after Season 7, which will have its finale on May 23. ” After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead,” Edelstein said in the statement.

Edelstein’s announcement comes amid rumors that “House,” which started in 2004, is heading to its end. According to some speculations, the eighth season of the show, which Fox has reportedly ordered, would be its last. Prior to Edelstein’s decision not to renew, there were talks that she was ready to sign an extension, following the leads of co-stars Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard.
