Magic defeat Cavs to take 2-1 series lead (game highlights)
Dwight Howard scored 24 points and nine rebounds as the Orlando Magic beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 99-89 on Sunday to take a 2-1 lead in their Eastern Conference finals series.
The Magic, still smarting from a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by LeBron James Friday, trailed 48-47 early in the third quarter at Amway Arena before going on an 11-2 scoring run to take the lead for good.
Howard, who sat most of the first half because of foul trouble, sank seven free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the victory before fouling out. Rafer Alston finished with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists and Mickael Pietrus added 16 points for Orlando.
LeBron James led Cleveland with 41 points, seven rebounds and nine assists but missed five free throws down the stretch. Mo Williams notched 15 points, while Delonte West added 12 for the Cavaliers.
Game 4 is on Tuesday in Orlando.
