Magic take 3-1 lead over Cavs

Orlando took a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference finals series on Tuesday with a thrilling 116-114 over time victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dwight Howard scored 27 points for the Magic, while Rafer Alston finished with 26, putting the home team on the verge of a trip to the NBA finals. Mikael Pietrus and Rashard Lewis both added 17.

The game in Orlando was pushed into over time when League MVP LeBron James made two free throws with four seconds left and the Magic leading 100-98. James notched 44 points to reach the 40-point barrier for the third time in the series but his three-point shot at the buzzer in overtime was wide left.

Mo Williams, who boldly guaranteed the Cavs would win the game and the series, scored 18 points but none after the third quarter. Delonte West finished with 17 and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 12 for Cleveland.

The Cavs will host Game 5 on Thursday.
