Magnitude 5.0 quake rocks Lennox CA


A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck the Los Angeles area on Sunday (May 17) at about 8:39 p.m. local time but there were no immediate reports of any serious injuries or damage.

The epicenter was near the neighborhoods of Inglewood and Lennox, about 15 kilometers away from downtown LA.

The rumbling lasted 10 to 15 seconds and was felt throughout the Greater Los Angeles area and as far south as San Diego.

The U.S. Geological Survey, which described the earthquake as moderate, said the temblor started 8.4 miles below the surface.
