Man takes his 2006 Bugatti Veyron for a swim
Wondering why the 2006 Bugatti Veyron—one of the most expensive and fastest production cars in the world— is surging in Google Trends? Apparently we have the answer.
A car enthusiast and collector from Texas got distracted by a low-flying pelican and drove his million-dollar sports car into a saltwater lagoon near Galveston.
Did we mention that he was reaching for his cell phone when the incident occurred? Luckily the driver, whose name was not immediately released, was not injured in the incident.
That Bugatti Veyron was one of only 200 made and one of only about 15 in the United States. It has 1,001 horsepower and is almost entirely electronic.
However, not even $2 million of high-speed European luxury could withstand three feet of salty water.
