Mayweather Versus Pacquiao Fight Finalized

It’s final and official. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have signed a deal to fight on March 13, 2010 at a still undecided location to finally determine who is the real pound-for-pound king.pacquiao_birthday

Undefeated Mayweather (40 wins, 25 by knockout) has agreed to fight Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 by knockout) in a 147-pound limit class with the right to choose any eight-ounce glove brand.

With regards to the money, a 50-50 split has been decided with each player guaranteed of $25 million which can go up between $30 million and $50 million after ticket sales. It is expected to break profits-record set by the Mayweather-Oscar De La Hoya fight in 2007.

The schedule was also set several days before the Filipino star is set to campaign for his bid of a congressional seat in the province of Saranggani in Southern Philippines.

Three sites are being considered for the much anticipated fight: MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the new Cowboys stadium, also in Vegas and the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

    I don't know why Freddie Roach agreed on the catch weight of 147lbs, and the fight will happen in March. I read at one time Roach wants Manny to train at least 3 months for this fight. I think 146
    is the ideal catch weight and $5M each pound over the limit weight. Manny is giving to much weight advantage to Mayweather with this deal. In my opinion, I would rather see this fight happen
    after the Philippine election.

    one point that manny has to make it before the election is that, if he loses in election again it would be a big physical and also psychological affect on his fight against mayweather.

    Why are you saying it's been finalized when they only signed the bout agreement to be held on March 13, 2010. Both fighters haven't signed the contract yet.

    Manny is the 147lb champ, therefore he is defending his title at the correct weight Litonucum. Not a catch weight. Cotto was suckered into the catchweight by his promoter Bob Arum and handicap king Freddie Roach. They wanted Cotto to be weakened by the struggle to make weight. Manny is the welterweight champ and doesn't need his handlers to cheat for him…right.

    What the hell are you talking about. Cotto wasn't suckered into the catchweight. It doesn't realy matter. Cotto agreed and signed the contract to be fought at 145 lbs. Cotto came in at 158 lbs. the day of the fight!

    floyd will likely lose against manny. but with rumors(?) that the fight was already called off, we could only hope for the better.

    It's good to hear that this super big match is finalised. It is long waiting for boxing fan from all over the world to witness the biggest fight in the boxing history, but Pacquiao seems has more potential to win.

    I think you’re right litonucum. Manny really does have a huge advantage. Then again, I don’t know too much about their history, cuz I’m pretty new to this sport. But, this doesn’t seem fair to me. My dad is going to be FREAKING OUT! lol
