Michael Douglas Throat Cancer Now Stage 4

Michael Douglas has revealed for the first time that his throat cancer is now in an advanced stage, although the Oscar-winning actor remains in high spirits despite the seriousness of the adversity he is currently facing.

In an appearance on the “Late Show” with David Letterman, Douglas said his cancer, which was discovered only after a summer vacation with his family, is already stage four. “It’s a stage four, which is intense, and they gotta go at it,” he said. Douglas, who is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, also said that his treatment is doing well. “I am head and neck, I am above the neck, so nothing’s gone down and the expectations are good.”

The 65-year-old actor, who is married to Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, said his chance of survival is very high despite the advanced stage of the cancer. “The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve.”
