Michael Jordan was enshrined in the Naismith Hall of Fame Friday night, joined by fellow former NBA stars David Robinson and John Stockton, and coaches Jerry Sloan and Vivian Stringer.

Jordan cried before beginning his speech, then entertained the crowd with memories of any slights that inspired him to get to basketball’s birthplace:

Michael Jordan Hall of Fame Speech

Jordan delivers a candid, heartfelt speech on one of the biggest nights in his illustrious career. Watch:

The 6-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls and five-time league most valuable player referred often to his famed competitiveness, saying he’d “do anything to win” and would probably still be on a court somewhere trying to beat someone when he’s 50.

“One day you might look up and see me playing a game at 50,” he said. “Don’t laugh. Never say never, because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion.”

No one should ever doubt MJ’s greatness! Congrats Mike!

Disappointing speech. You left out the all petty comments he made for such a big night. He let many of his fans down.
