Microsoft Releases Stand-alone 250GB Detachable Hard Drive

Microsoft announced the release of the standalone detachable 250 GB hard drive for its console Xbox

The latest version can only be purchased previously in a console bundle such as with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Final Fantasy XIII. It will be bundled next to the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction.

The announcement came as a surprise after Microsoft previously stated that the 250GB will only be sold via console bundles.

Buyers will have to shell out $129.99 for the hard drive. That is actually cheap if considering that the 20GB version was initially sold at 100 dollars while the 120GB initially carried a price of $179.99 which was lowered to $129.99. With the same price tagged at the new 250GB, the 120GB version cost was further reduced to $99.99.

The standalone version is already being sold in Japan for the last few weeks. It will come to the United Kingdom on April 16 at a cost of 79.99 pounds.
