Miley Cyrus jewelry in Walmart can be toxic

Walmart has recently reacted to reports that the Miley Cyrus jewelry line sold in their stores contains high levels of cadmium–a toxic metal. The world’s largest retailer has decided to pull out the trinkets after they were found to be unsafe for children.

In a series of tests conducted for the Associated Press, the jewelry, which Cyrus had collaborated with BCBG and designer Max Azria, was found to contain cadmium which can be harmful if ingested.

A representative for both parties had issued a statement claiming that the jewelry sold is not meant for children and is sold in the ladies apparel section.

Cadmium can apparently cause liver and kidney problems, as well as weaken the bones and the respiratory tract.

It was reported that Walmart had already received the test results last February. It, however, chose to continue selling the make-it-yourself charm bracelets.
