Missing Southern California Teen Chelsea King Found?
Police have found a body believed to be California high school student Chelsea King, who disappeared last week. The body was found late Tuesday afternoon near Lake Hodges, where the 17-year-old regularly went for a jog.
Local law enforcers, volunteers, and the FBI had been searching for the teenager a day after she mysteriously disappeared while jogging in a park on February 25. Sheriff Bill Gore said that ‘there is a strong likelihood we have found Chelsea.” Two days ago, authorities arrested convicted sex offender John Albert Gardner III whose DNA matched the one that was found on the Poway High School senior’s underwear, which was found near the same area on Thursday. The San Diego district attorney said the 30-year-old suspect will be formally charged tomorrow.
On Monday, King’s parents Brent and Kelly had expressed optimism that their daughter was still alive. The San Diego community has been supportive of the Kings, with many people helping in the search. The 17-year-old straight A student’s Facebook page has also attracted more than 75,000 fans.
