2009 MLS Cup: LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake


Qwest Field will play host to the Major League Soccer championship match between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Salt Lake. The game will begin tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN.

When comparing the two clubs, both made a remarkable push in the playoffs. A lot of pundits say that Real is the underdog in this final due to all of the Galaxy’s stars. But Kyle Beckerman and Clint Mathis said they’re up for the challenge.

Probable Starters for the Galaxy: Donovan Ricketts, Ds Sean Franklin, Gregg Berhalter, Omar Gonzalez, Todd Dunivant; MFs Chris Klein, Dema Kovalenko, David Beckham, Landon Donovan, Mike Magee, Edson Buddle.

Probable Starters for Real: Nick Rimando, Ds Robbie Russell, Jamison Olave, Nat Borchers, Chris Wingert; MFs Andy Williams, Kyle Beckerman, Javier Morales, Will Johnson, Fabián Espíndola, Robbie Findley.

UPDATE: Defender Robbie Russell scored in the seventh round of penalty kicks and Real Salt Lake defeated the Galaxy 5-4 on penalties for its first MLS championship.
