NBA: Boston Celtics vs. Dallas Mavericks
The Boston Celtics (27-11) will try to break a two-game home losing run as they host the Dallas Mavericks (26-14) tonight at 8:00 p.m.
Boston, who was defeated at home by the Chicago Bulls in their last outing, is expecting the return of Rasheed Wallace. However, Kevin Garnett remains sidelined for at least two more games because of a hyper extended right knee.
Reports say that the team is expected to have Paul Pierce, following his knee-to-knee collision with teammate Shelden Williams in practice. If Paul cannot go, expect Tony Allen to get the start.
Should the Celtics lose, they’ll have lost three home games for the first time in nearly 2 years. Their six defeats at TD Garden so far this term is already equivalent to the home losses for the entirety of last season.
The Mavs are also looking to bounce back after an embarrassing performance of their own at Toronto on Sunday. Chris Bosh had team highs of 23 points and 13 rebounds in that game as the Raptors took the 110-88 victory. Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points, Jason Terry added 18, while Jason Kidd notched 12 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
UPDATE: Dirk Nowitzki scored 37 points, including 22 in the second half, as the Mavericks beat the Celtics 99-90. That makes three home defeats in a row for Boston.
