NBA: Bulls Barge Into Playoffs, Face Cavs
The Chicago Bulls have accomplished the easier part of their mission, which was to get the last playoffs spot. Derrick Rose scored 27 points and Joakim Noah chipped in 21 markers to help Chicago beat the Charlotte Bobcats, now owned by arguably the best Bull in NBA history, Michael Jordan. The win secured for the Bulls the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference and a first-round playoff match-up with overall top seed Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 98-89 victory capped a roller-coaster regular season for the Bulls, who encountered various internal problems throughout the year, including a reported spat between head coach Vinny Del Negro and team vice-president John Paxson. Chicago was in danger of missing the playoffs after losing ten-straight games late in the season, but recovered just in time by winning ten of their last 14.
With the regular season now behind them, the Bulls must now concentrate on what appears to be a gargantuan task of bringing down LeBron James and the Cavaliers. However, the Cavaliers are sure to be wary of the Bulls, as the two teams split their four regular season matches. The NBA Playoffs will kick off on Saturday.
