NBA: LA Lakers vs. Orlando Magic

Tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET, we’ll get to see a rematch between the two teams in last season’s NBA Finals, as the Los Angeles Lakers host the Orlando Magic.

The Lakers won their 15th championship by beating Orlando in five games last year. It was the fourth title for Kobe Bryant, who also got the finals MVP award.

Kobe has been playing with a broken index finger for several weeks but has still managed to lead his team to the best record in the league. Ron Artest, the newly acquired player, has not become a distraction so far, except to their opponents.

Pau Gasol has recently been signed to a three-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2013-14 season. Los Angeles has a strong lineup which should contend for championships over the next few years.

Dwight Howard and the gang come into this match having lost six of their last eight games, including a 102-87 loss Friday against a Portland team that was without Brandon Roy and Greg Oden.

This was a very disappointing defeat for Orlando, but they will try and get some much needed momentum with a victory over the Lakers on their home court at the Staples Center.

Statistically, the Lakers and the Magic are evenly matched. They haven’t met since last year’s finals, so this is definitely an interesting match.

UPDATE: Shannon Brown notched 22 points, and Pau Gasol added 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Lakers beat the Magic 98-92 in a rematch of last year’s NBA finals.
