NBA: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics
One of the biggest rivals in basketball will be playing each other in tonight’s NBA match-up. The game between defending champions Los Angeles Lakers and 2008 winners Boston Celtics is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Eastern / 12:30 Pacific at the TD Garden.
Celtics star forward Paul Pierce is looking forward for tonight’s game and he sees it as a must win situation.
“We’ve got to do a better job,” said Pierce. “We’ve got the Lakers coming in (today), so we feel like it’s a must win.
“These are teams we’re going to see in the playoffs, so we’re giving them a psychological edge right now. It’s not something where you’re going to just be able to turn it on once the playoffs start. You know, we’ve got to start turning it around right now.”
The Lakers should be more pumped up facing the team who has beaten them in the 2008 Finals. Lakers star Kobe Bryant said that playing against Boston brings back bad memories of their loss two years ago.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how they answer that challenge,” Bryant said in a statement. “Every time we go back to Boston, it’s special, because that’s where we lost the (2008) championship. All those memories come back.”
UPDATE: Kobe Bryant notched a fall away jumper with 7.3 seconds left in the game to give the Lakers a 90-89 win over Boston.
