Netizens Snub Leaked Lost Episode
Fans of ABC’s Lost have rejected a leaked version of the popular TV series, prompting network executives to speculate that viewers are starting to mature. The first hour of Lost’s sixth and final season appeared online over the weekend, while the full premiere episode became available on YouTube on Monday. However, aside from a few hundred views, reception to the leaked episode was generally negative. Loyal followers of the series used social networking platforms like Twitter and Facebook to lambast those who were behind the leaked episode.
ABC executives welcomed the development, saying that they have never had a show like Lost where “fans feel like they own this thing.” The bootleg copy appears to have been taken from a hand-held camera during the Oahu, Hawaii, screening of the season opener. In that screening, over 12,000 fans trooped to Oahu to be among the first to watch the 44-minute season premiere, which will air on ABC Tuesday night.
