New Harry Potter book to go on sale
The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a new book written and illustrated by J.K. Rowling, goes on sale Thursday. This new book by the British author is her unofficial send-off to the adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter.
This new Harry Potter spin-off is expected to become an international best-seller, with a global print run of around 7.5 million copies.
The book is based on a volume of five wizard fairy tales given by Albus Dumbledore, to Harry’s friend Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The stories in Beedle hold clues that help Harry destroy his mortal enemy Lord Voldemort. They are described as fables that wizard parents tell their children.
At first, Rowling planned to make only seven handwritten and hand-illustrated copies of the book. She gave six of them to close friends and sold one at auction for £1.95 million.
According to the Telegraph, all profits are going to Rowling’s charity for vulnerable children in Eastern Europe. The book will be published in 38 languages.
Kudos to Rowling!
