New PETA ad warns that going vegan may cause ‘BWVAKTBOOM’
Apparently going vegan turns a man into such a sexual juggernaut that he’ll “knock the bottom out of” his partner, leaving her injured, pantless, limping and in a neck brace.
This latest ad from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has sparked online outrage after viewers said it promoted violence against women. The controversial video, uploaded on YouTube last week (Feb. 6), features a young woman who is obviously “beaten up” while struggling to carry a bag of veggies home from the store.
“This is Jessica,” the narrator says. “She suffers from ‘BWVAKTBOOM,’ ‘Boyfriend Went Vegan and Knocked the Bottom Out of Me,’ a painful condition that occurs when boyfriends go vegan and can suddenly bring it like a tantric porn star.”
While a number of critics have accused PETA of crossing the line, a rep for the animal rights group told Yahoo News that “the piece is tongue-in-cheek. People who watch the ad all the way through see the woman has a mischievous smile. She’s happy to go back with him. It’s playful.”
