New website for educating consumers about environment

cartonsNew website educate consumers about environment and mainly about the packaging of the products we use every day. While for an individual it might not look so bad – one plastic bag here, another plastic package there, where’s the problem – if you put them all together, the amount of waste we produce together is enormous. For example, if we just talk about plastic shopping bags, nothing else, then Americans alone create roughly 300,000 tons of landfill waste every year with 1 billion plastic shopping bags. Containers and packaging is the cause for roughly 30% of waste created in the U.S., which in numbers is dozens of millions of tons. And in 2011 only 8% of it was recycled.

Fortunately, according to studies, even though slowly, we are becoming more eco-conscious. Based on EcoFocus Worldwide’s 2013 EcoFocus Trend Study roughly 3/4 of the women with kids can be classified as EcoAware Moms who, when making their purchasing decisions, try to consider the environmental impact of the product’s packaging and also teach their children about it.

Evergreen Packaging’s Marketing Director Erin Reynolds said that “EcoAware Moms know their eco-friendly lifestyle choices are important in shaping their children’s attitudes as they grow into adulthood.”
