NFL Player Gaines Adams Dead at 26
Gaines Adams, Chicago Bears’ defensive end died this Sunday morning caused by a cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at 8:21 am ET in Self Regional Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, South Carolina. He was 26.
The NFL player was found dead at his Dublin Street home by his girlfriend who alerted the authorities. According to Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey, Adams had already undergone an autopsy and it was confirmed that his death was caused by a “cardiac arrest”. He also said that Adams had an “enlarged heart”.
Adams was the fourth overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was then trade to Chicago Bears last October.
The Chicago Bears issued a statement Sunday afternoon after hearing the sad news, saying, “We are stunned and saddened by the news of Gaines’ passing. Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
