NFL Week 16: San Diego Chargers vs. Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans will face the San Diego Chargers at LP Field in what will surely be a very hard hitting match.
The last time these two teams met, San Diego won in a game that was filled with injuries. Tonight, the Titans have revenge on their minds, when they host the Chargers in a showdown of two of the AFC’s hottest football teams.
The Chargers travel to Music City having won nine straight since a 2-3 start, the second-longest current winning streak in the NFL behind only that of the unbeaten Indianapolis Colts. Norv Turner’s men are already in the playoffs and this is a game that they could do without.
The Titans, meanwhile, have won seven of their last eight matches to get back into the wild-card situation with a 7-7 record. They still have a chance at making the post season but need to win both their remaining games. However, given where the team has come from, their status as a thriving member of the playoff race is truly remarkable.
The match kicks-off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Prediction: Tennessee linebackers David Thornton and Keith Bulluck are on injured reserve and that’s a big factor. The Titans, who seemingly blew their Super Bowl dreams with an awful 0-6 start, will probably be eliminated tonight.
UPDATE: Quarterback Philip Rivers threw two touchdown passes and Darren Sproles scored three times as the Chargers beat the Titans, 42-17 to grab the AFC’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the postseason.
