NHL Playoffs 2010: San Jose Sharks vs. Colorado Avalanche (Game 6)
The top-seeded San Jose Sharks can close out the Colorado Avalanche in Denver when the two sides meet tonight for Game 6 of their Western Conference playoff series.
Down 3-2, Adam Foote and co. are against the ropes and, despite playing from home, they have come in as the underdog in this match. But if the Sharks are to wrap this one up, they’ll have to stay out of the box and find a way to score at the Pepsi Center — only two of their 14 goals in this series have been on the road.
San Jose was down two games to one in this series and seemed to be in danger of losing to an eighth seed in the first round for the second straight year. However, they have played really well to reach this position and can advance to the conference semifinals with an away victory tonight.
Meanwhile, Peter Mueller is officially listed as “very doubtful” to play. The 22-year-old center skated Friday and was on the ice briefly again at Saturday’s morning skate, but will most likely stay on the sidelines this evening.
The match kicks-off at 10:00 p.m.
UPDATE: The Sharks defeated the Avalanche 5-2 after scoring four times in the final period to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.
