NHL Playoffs: Washington Capitals vs. Montreal Canadiens (Game 6)
The Montreal Canadiens will try to force a Game 7 this evening as they host the Washington Capitals at the Bell Centre for the 2010 NHL Playoffs. The Capitals lead the series 3-2 but both teams are feeling the pressure ahead of tonight’s match.
The Habs have already lost twice at home to Washington in this series, but they stayed alive with a road victory in Game 5. Alexander Ovechkin and the gang, on the other hand, won Game 3 by a wide margin and they took the next game after trailing by a goal entering the last 10 seconds of the second period.
Meanwhile, Montreal has recalled P.K. Subban from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs. The 20-year-old defenceman from Toronto scored 18 goals and 35 assists this season for the Bulldogs but I don’t think it’s a good idea to throw a rookie with two NHL games under his belt into an elimination game.
However, Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said if Subban did play, he expected he’d bring great energy and enthusiasm to the Canadiens’ lineup.
We’ll find out in short while.
The match kicks-off at 7:00 p.m. ET.
UPDATE: Montreal stayed alive with a 4-1 victory over Washington and forced a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
