Japan’s largest advertising agency, Dentsu, will team up with Nintendo Co Ltd to offer a video distribution service on Nintendo Wii console, according to Reuters.

The two companies had not settled on what type of programming they would create for the service. According to another report by Nikkei, original cartoons and other entertainment programs are under consideration. Some of the fare will be free, while other material will require a fee.

Nintendo and Dentsu will start the new service early next year in Japan, followed by overseas launches later in the year. [via Reuters]

Nintendo Wii has been outselling the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this year. Nintendo also launched the Nintendo DSi which comes with a built-in camera on November.
