Nokia VP admits N97 was a “tremendous disappointment”
Admitting a mistake is hard but it’s much harder for a company to publicly admit that their product was a “tremendous disappointment”.
Nokia’s VP of markets Anssi Vanjoki said in an interview that the Nokia N97 met the company’s goal in terms of sales and revenue but was a “tremendous disappointment in terms of the experience quality for the consumers and something [they] did not anticipate.”
Vanjoki also said that they’ve learned some lessons from this experience and those lessons were already applied in the new firmware version. New Symbian^3 will roll out in the future and Nokia has a very big promise about it, “we have taken the learnings and when Symbian^3 comes out you can rest assured it will be perfect”.
